Who: A whole bunch of Jaffa’s best girlfriends

What: A sleepover birthday party to bring in Jaffa’s birthday

When: Friday, March 22^nd from 4:00pm through Saturday, March 23^rd at 10:00am.

Where: Jaffa’s house, Kemang Club Villas no. 69

The plan: Pizza for dinner, birthday cake, movie and popcorn, waffles for breakfast, lots of games in between—and maybe a dip in the pool

Please bring: pyjamas, toothbrush, snuggly/doudou, pillow, swimsuit

Note: Girls can also choose the half-sleepover, where they go home around 9 or 10pm.

This invitation went out to 25 girls, and I somehow did this sober and deliberately. 18 took us on for the whole deal, and about 3 more came for the half. It was quite an event!

We started at 4pm where girls came in, got settled, and started making a castle out of the couches and cushions and blankets. [Strangely, if you surrender to chaos, there is a certainly peace that overcomes you.] The castle didn't exactly materialize, but it was fun to take everything apart and start thinking about where everyone was going to sleep. After that, we made crowns and cakepops (doubled as goodie bags), then ordered 10 pizzas which disappeared in about 8 minutes after arrival. Then cake.. Jaffa ordered a blue cheesecake--that clearly included 12 blended smurfs--and a pink angel food cake. And ice cream.

There was a frenzy of present-opening at some point..

After that, the girls split into 4 groups (with a grown-up each) to get sprayed down with bug spray for a game of "no ghosts are out tonight" (with flashlights outside in the dark - whoooooooooooooa!!).

To keep things spooky, the girls came back in and watched Hotel Transylvania.. which had some good dance music at the end that got them groovin'!!

At 9:30, they were all "in bed" (with teeth brushed) on the floor on cushions all of the living room. And soon after, they were asleep. And no one woke up until 5:30 the next morning. Wow!

More playing and about 60 waffles later, they went to the pool until the time when parents picked up. It was a busy 18 hours.. but a lot of fun! What I liked the best was that the whole thing was so new and exciting for the girls.. they were pretty easy to please, and (under the threat of harsh punishment from their parents) very well-behaved.
