Monticello

Lucky us!  We were able to meet up with Zeric's training class AND with Aunt Tirzy and Uncle Bill for a tour of Monticello.  It was very interesting and a lot of fun to learn about how life was during those years when our country was new.  Thomas Jefferson was such an interesting person.. though we did have lots and lots of questions about his slaves.

Nope, not jail.. an ice house!

Writing with a quill pen and ink about what the constitution means to us..

We wished this tree could tell its stories!!

We loved Jefferson's garden.. complete with it's own little house with a sliding window to keep out the elements.. but not the bugs.  And, in this case, to keep in the kids!

We ended our tour with a visit to the graveyard.
Jefferson's relatives can be buried there even today.  It's a beautiful spot.
