Palais de la Decouverte

Before we left Jakarta, we asked the kids what they wanted to do in France.. and one of the first things they said was, "go to a kids' museum!!!"  So we met our friend Amira (who is in Jaffa's class in Jakarta) and her parents at the discovery palace.

Side note: I know we are very spoiled having lived in DC with all the great and free museums, and so we were a bit critical of the place thinking that this one wasn't quite so very interactive, and there wasn't a whole lot to do.  The architecture was fantastic though, and we did get to sit through 45 minutes of watching a rat go through a maze about 67 times, and the lady's very detailed explaination about how he learned to do it.  The funnest part was watching Zeric try not to squirm  as he watched the rat do its thing.

We went through an exhibit about how things work, and there were lots of things to touch there, but by far the most impressive exhibit in the whole place was entitled, "Animal Sex". No kidding, in a kids' museum. It's France, I guess.  So, of course, we went in! And there were videos of all kinds of "marryin'" as Jaffa put it. Bugs and giraffes and mountain goats. Who knew? Affected the grown-ups much more than the kids.  The kids were just excited to write about and pin up all of the things they love-including each other: "BFF!"

And,having built up quite an appetite, we went to lunch.. biensur!!
