Hello, Jim!

I'm always game for a good walk in a cemetery, but it wasn't on the top of the list fo Paris.. until Zeric mentioned that his friend and colleague Luthfi (the one that he fishes with when he goes on work trips, see past postings) wanted a picture of Jim Morrison's grave. Off we went to the 10th arrondissement (ummm.. not really close to the sights we were scoping out) to find Jim.  He wasn't too hard to find, we just followed all of the other Americans.

And the cemetery itself was a really beautiful place.  It was so interesting to see the names and dates, all the different kinds of people buried there.  Including monuments to historical knights and ladies.
There were lots of new graves, and lots and lots of old ones.  Just after our long conversation about how you might fit a family's worth of coffins into one of the skinny tiny houses, we walked by one that had caved in.  Eeeeesh!  Apparently, you stack them!

Once we saw Jim and wandered a little, we headed back down.. it was time to hit a cafe (read: pee and a drink).  Is anyone surprised that Cimitiere Pere Lachaise is on "rue du repos" (the street of rest)?

So we found a great cafe, and Zeric found a beer. A big beer.  Phew!

Next time we go to Paris, I'm going back.. I just found out that Edith Piaf is buried there too and I'd like to go see her.  Probably won't be too hard to convince Zeric to go too, with a beer like this at the end of the road!
