Because we have such a big pool that largely goes unused. And because we had an unexpected day off of school. [The explanation goes back to having French unionized teachers who are strong advocates for not working one second longer than they think they should in a tropical country, and having had to have parent-teacher conferences on a Saturday.] Anyway, we had a pool party and invited the kindergarten and pre-kindergarten classes--and (why not) their siblings. Probably 45 kids invited in all. And it was a potluck, which in French you call "auberge espagnol" (or Spanish tavern, I'm still trying to figure out why). Reminiscent of Jaffa's birthday party only without all of the cooking and goodie bags.

But, the kids had a great time.. it kept them busy for hours, and wore them out completely. It was nice to see the kids together one last time before everyone went off to their countries for summer vacation.
Mission accomplished!!
