Up in the mountains of Puncak, redux

evidence of a great time..
To ring in the new year, we went back up the mountain to Puncak (see November post about mountains for our first visit) this time caravanning with two other familes.. so we were six adults, eight kids and two dogs all together ready to party and relax.  We brought all necessary supplies: booze, a range of outside games, fondue fixins, swim suits, eighteen pounds of parboiled home-made pasta, beer, board games, and wine.  We spent four days eating, drinking, chasing balls on the yard, eating, riding horses, eating, taking a loooong car ride to take some surfing lessons, drinking and eating.  Overall, a smashing success!

Below are some pictures, but admitedly, there are some missing (largely from moments whereby drinks were served prior and no one's camera was on-hand) including:
  • fondue, both cheese and chocolate (recently imported in suitcases coming from places cold) -- the chocolate in a fountain!!
  • surfing lessons
  • Julian's awesome shrimp and white wine sauce
  • late night dish-doing in the kitchen
  • the very very very long car rides to/from the beach
What we do have on record is..

good dogs in the car

kids and dogs loving the very big yard!

rhinoceros beetles.. they were easily 4 inches long.  girl on left, boy
(with horn, ahem) on right

Kids eating Pamcakes for breakfast.  Yum!!

sibs playing in the pool

Smith kids showing their cowboy roots.  Now, there are pictures of the other three Smiths on horseback, but--to be honest--these were small horses, and, well... the human-to-horse ratio wasn't quite right so I skipped posting those.

ah, ying and yang naps!
And finally, hangin' at the tea plantation on the way back down the hill.  This time, we didn't have memere to give us the historical facts about the colonial tea industry, but one of the kids remembered and did a pretty good job recounting.  We did miss memere very much this time!!
