Ya, mon

We very much appreciate Natalie and Stephen and their beautiful girls Alex and Amanda for their fun company, Nat's honest and crass commentary (right, Mom? She made Mom blush more than once... something about.. nevermind), their GREAT food, and the rum.  They are Jamaican, and Jamaica has a special place in our hearts.. as we spent good times there, ate GREAT food, bought GREAT art, found a beautiful Olivia dog, did good work. So when we got the invite for last Sunday to come and hang for the afternoon, our answer was, of course..

YES!

There were few pictures from the afternoon because I had jerk sauce all over my hands as well as a bottomless glass of rum punch close by.  Before Zeric really got into the 21-year Appleton, he took this great picture of the kids, Eben with clearly some Jamaican in him somewhere as he tackles this corn on the cob.  And my sweet dainty Jaf who will set up a picnic anywhere.

Nat has two favorite desserts.  Pineapple upside-down cake, and rum and raisin ice cream.  I have not mastered the latter, but here's my most recent attempt at the cake.  The secret?  Lots more rum than what the recipe says.. and fresh pineapple!
It was a great afternoon.. and yet another one that went well into dinnertime.  "Mom, it's getting dark" has been the cue most recently for us to take our leave.  I like tropical living!
