Nothing like very specific Halloween costume needs to inspire a visit to the fabric market. Pasar Mayestik is pretty amazing; it's like a small neighborhood of many shops stuffed with every fabric and accessory you can imagine. It was hot, but it was really fun. And we found so much neat stuff. We found fabric for the scales on Jaffa's goldfish outfit. We found a belt buckle perfect for Eben/Zoro. We found netting for the goldfish fins. We found the perfect black bandit shirt and pants. We found pearls for the goldfish's necklace. And many, many other things that we don't need at the moment but will certainly go back for someday soon. Halloween posting will follow soon with the results of this adventure!

A wall of buttons. For real. A whole very long wall.
To top off the day, the three Smiths took a bajai home. Bajais are the three-wheeled vehicles that are called tuktuks in Thailand, that some teenagers (who shall go unnamed) used to tip over by merely leaning hard to one side when hitting a turn. But the ride went smoothly. So smoothly in fact that both kids were asleep by the time they got home. Or perhaps they were passed out from inhaling the traffic fumes. Not sure which. |
