Schools and clinics

One of my favorite things about my job is visiting schools.  Here's one that's connected to the rovincial Education Office, where we had one of our meetings this morning.  We were happy to hear that they were exciting about our new big reading project that will help them with books and teacher training to ensure that kids are reading in their language (Tchiluba) at grade level.

This is a 3rd grade classroom of 50 kids, and their teacher. 

The kids are almost done with school for the year, just finishing up their exams. But they still answered our questions about how far they live from school, whether they liked math, and they even sung us a song.  It was very nice!

 "Dear parents, school ensures the well-being of your child, contributes to peace and improves our community life. Enroll all school-aged kids, girls and boys, and let's support them in their completion of primary school."

 

After visiting the school, we headed to a TB clinic.  Pretty spartan. But, they treat cases and bring meds to TB patients that can't make it to the clinic. They even successfully treat people who have multidrug resistant TB. And they work in the prisons. Pretty amazing and committed people.
