the hydrant
Once we got word that DRC didn't implode and that the evacuation orders had been lifted, we booked Blu's ticket back to Kin with us. OF COURSE there was no more space on Zeric's flight, so I got to travel with kids AND the dog a few days later. Blu is an easy dog and a great traveler, however.. once we got him checked in, I took him for one last pit stop before his long flight to Addis. The dog area at Dulles is at the very far end of the terminal.. but look! it's perfect. Blu doesn't really know what this hydrant thing is, but he found a corner and peed. He was freezing (of course) so we headed back into the terminal. On the next available foot-wiping carpet in front of the automatic doors, he poops. AAAAAACK!! Oh my dog!!! Got that cleaned up.. then after the first meal on the 12-hour flight to Addis, Eben gets food poisoning. For real. Yup, mommies almost always smell like something unpleasant.
