The Charles de Gaulle airport is not terrible. We were braced for the worst, though, with our EIGHT 70-pound suitcases (and the main reason for the enormous van we had rented for our French roadtrip). We had assurances from the United people in Washington that the overweight that we paid would cover us to Kinshasa EVEN THOUGH we were stopping in France for four days. Hmmmm.. it took some discussion, and quite awhile to check in all of our bags. And negotiate that car seats are NEVER counted as a piece of luggage. It took so long, in fact, that the kids fell asleep while we were at the counter. But, the nice French man (not pictured here, ahem) made it all work for us :) A good omen!!
