This new museum is just stunning. It's down near Plaka rather than on the hill, but it has three florrs and the layout and presentation of the art was great. We learned that the Greeks used to paint their beautiful statues with really gaudy colors" bright blue, red, yellow. They had examples, and it was strange to see!
We were not allowed to take pictures in some parts of it, but here are some shots of the top floor which was a replica of the Parthenon with all of the fallen pieces in their place. The metal columns represent the real ones, and you can walk around it like you cannot on the real one.
In the center of this floor is a video that shows the construction and destruction of the Parthenon, taking you through all of the events that took place over the last thousands of years. Here it is: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xqmwi6_history-of-the-parthenon-from-ancient-time-to-present-time_school
What a great history lesson!
