Our friend Arnaud loves 80s music. So, before everyone left on summer vacation (this town has very few expatriates from the end of June until the end of August), he and Afia (his wife) threw an 80s party complete with disco ball and all kinds of lights. I usually go to their parties because a) we like them a lot, she's a New Yorker who appreciates my Jew food, and b) he is French and has a thing for good cheese. This party required shopping for clothes and some digging through the costume box, but at the end, I showed up in a hot pink mini skirt with black ankle tight, a bolero jean jacket and a lot of lace. Zeric had red Chuck Taylors and had pegged his jeans.
Not fair that he was moving so fast the whole night dancing his bootie off that no has any pictures that aren't a smear of white-button-down-shirt with skinny red tie. I, on the other hand, was compliant about providing photographic evidence that I can look 15 again. We all danced till 2am to Michael Jackson, Madonna, Cheap Trick, the FlashDance soundtrack. AND a lot of French 80s music too.. that none of the non-French people had ever heard or heard of. It was pretty funny. The Frenchies would hear a sing and jump up and start singing and dancing wildly--the same way we did with the American/British stuff that they knew too--and the rest of us would back away to the mojito station. Celine (left on the left) came dressed as Jeanne Mas who apaprently sang a song called "En Rouge et Noir". Very well known.. who knew?
It was fun going waaaaay back in time, and even slow dancing to Hotel California. And no chaperones this time!
You look gorgeous! :) Hope there's another one of these parties when we come visit!
